Giving during the holiday season?
Nov 22, 2008 - 1:21 PM - by Brandbla8
Are people going to be giving to charities as much this holiday season as before? We could see that needed charities are as well going to be doing without. Even though we are having it a little rough, I will still continue to give to my favorites. Do you donate?

I give to Toys for Tots
Redcross
Local Charities

Has the job loss hit you yet?
Nov 20, 2008 - 2:59 PM - by Brandbla8
We have been seeing for sometime about the job loss and the economy making things worse with layoffs, but we felt it at home this morning. My husband has been with a heating and air company for going on 4 years now doing HVAC work. He was told this morning he and 17 other workers are laid off until notice. That just made my bad mood about the holidays even worse.

Auto companies
Nov 11, 2008 - 11:12 AM - by matty39
The auto companies want a bailout. Should they get one? I'm thinking that it looks like they will get one but what I don't understand is.....if the demand for vehicles is down and the economy is one in which many won't be able to afford to buy new cars, what good would a bail out do?

How long do you think the US economic slump will last?
Nov 08, 2008 - 2:58 AM - by Andrew
How long do you think the US economic slump will last? It's been a problem several years in the making and lately it's becoming more and more of a burden on people. Do you think we are looking at the beginning of a depression of some sort or do you think we are almost to the light at the end of the tunnel?

Keep those credit cards...but....
Nov 11, 2008 - 1:13 PM - by DianaR
Once you pay off a credit card, try to keep the account open, even if you have to charge small items and pay them off at the next billing cycle.

Your credit rating is better if the difference between your available credit and what you actually owe on your credit cards is large!

The new stimulus plan
Nov 24, 2008 - 7:45 PM - by sweetvtmom
President elect Obama was talking about the country needing another stimulus package. He didn't give any numbers, but the news was saying he was looking at bigger numbers than the last stimulus package that was distributed. A $700,000,000 figure was put out there (not by Obama).

What do you think of this? Do you feel more money should be sent around? Do you wonder where the money will come from?

I certainly do! How can they give us more money, when the country doesn't have any?

Tax cuts improving economy
Nov 11, 2008 - 12:58 AM - by manojjonam10
I personally feel that tax cuts awarded to people across a general spectrum will help to stimulate the economy. It will increase in savings and the money spending of the people.

Does any of feel that tax cuts will help to stimulate the economy and how long do you think tax cuts will be there.

Trump Says Buy
Nov 10, 2008 - 1:35 AM - by Andrew
Donald Trump recently said that now is a great time to buy real estate in the US. The housing crisis has all but crippled the sale of homes. If somebody wants to sell a house they are forced to drop their asking price significantly. According to many people including real estate king Donald Trump, it's a buyers market and then some.

Do you agree with this? Are you currently investing in real estate or involved in the industry in some way? There is a lot of money to be made by those willing to take some risks. I'm not involved in real estate personally right now but I know several people who are getting involved as of late.

Credit Cards--Bad Idea
Nov 14, 2008 - 5:36 PM - by Perchta
If this worsening world economy has taught me anything, it's that credit is a dangerous thing, and folishly maxed credit cards are the dumbest thing of all. I'm so glad my family paid them off and cut them up two years ago! Anything worth having is worth saving and earning for.
